Rich Murphy has hired Keith Dawley as his assistant coach at the University of Houston. The two will team up in their first year with the women’s team making their debut in the American Athletic Conference this season.

Dawley is a Texas native from Allen, TX. He is making his way back to his home state via Houston from East Carolina University. Dawley had been at ECU for four years, starting in the 2009-2010 season. In his time at ECU, he worked with the breaststrokers primarily; they set nine school records in 2012.

Dawley graduated from University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in 2009. A back injury forced in out of the water in his senior season, where he began his coaching career as a student-assistant coach. His junior year he competed at the SEC Championships in the 2006-2007 season. He spent his freshman and sophomore years at Indiana University.

The Lady Cougars finished 2nd last year in the C-USA. For the senior class, this is their third head and assistant coaches, after the tragic passing of Mark Taylor in 2011 and Augie Busch accepting the head coach position at UVa this past spring.
