2000 Olympic gold and silver medalist Ed Moses is coming to the small screen as a competitor in Netflix’s new obstacle-course show “Ultimate Beastmaster.”
The show has the epic feel of NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” or even the 90’s kids’ staple “Nickelodeon GUTS.” In each hour-long episode, 12 competitors from six different countries will tackle “The Beast” obstacle course. After each has their turn, the winners will compete against each other for the title “Ultimate Beastmaster.”
The show goes live worldwide on February 24th.
Moses is a veteran both in the pool and on physical competition shows like this. Back in 2013, he appeared on a American-Gladiators-and-musical-chairs mashup “Oh Sit” on the CW. The former University of Virginia star has appeared on other physical-challenge type television shows, including the Disney season of the Golf Channel show “Big Break”. He was also the star of his own Universal Sports reality show that was originally launched as “Stroke Kings” and then retitled “Against the Tide.”
Moses’s greatest feat of 2016 was qualifying for U.S. Olympic Trials on only two practices in four years.
And, while we’re on the subject, let’s not forget that Moses isn’t the only Olympic gold medalist to take on this sort of intense physical competition:
As a swammer who now climbs, my money is on one of the climbers.
Not that they’re better athletes or anything, but their sport basically revolves around these kind of movements
Ultimate breastmaster 🙂
Yeah me too with Steve really interesting to watch, however don’t think it will comparable to the well “American Ninja Warrior” show
Looks like Ninja Warrior if they cared WAY more about set design. (Gotta do something better than the current king, right?)
And I can’t believe they were ever gonna call a TV show “Stroke Kings.” A fantastically homoerotic title.
That looks a hell of a lot tougher than America ninja warrior
I am definitely adding that music from Mel’s American Gladiator video to my playlist for this season!
So basically it’s a ninja warrior
No no no, it’s beastmaster
