GAMBIER, Ohio – Sophomore Elise Lankiewicz broke two of her own school records to win the 1,650-yard freestyle and lead Davidson swimming & diving on the first day of competition at the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College.
Lankiewicz touched first in 16 minutes, 42.26 seconds, surpassing the mile standard she set in the same meet last year of 16:53.77, and the 1,000-yard free record (10:13.62) she set last year as well, posting a split of 10:09.12. She also competed in the only other women’s race of the night, the women’s 800 freestyle relay, combining with Meredith Nakano, Sarah Coats and Angie Healy to finish third in 7:25.21.
Through two events of the three-day meet, the Davidson women sit third with 101 points in the seven-team meet. Pennsylvania leads, while host Kenyon is second with 202 points. Johns Hopkins, Depauw, Carnegie Mellon and Grove City trail in order.
The Davidson men completed the same races and sit fourth with 74 points, while Penn leads with 255. Max Schimanski (16:14.44) and Clay Resweber (16:20.53) placed 19th and 20th, respectively, for the Wildcats in the 1,650 free, while Luke Burton, Cole Riggan, Grant Smith and Brandon Kegley placed seventh in the 800 free relay in 6:44.63.

Did you miss Chris Swanson going 14:43 and getting the “A” cut?
Peter – no we didn’t. This was not a story about Chris Swanson or Penn, it was a story about Elise Lankiewicz and Davidson.
