Elmbrook Swim Club Breaks 13-14 National Age Group Record in 200 Medley Relay

2019 Wisconsin Long Course 13 & Over State Championship Meet

  • August 1st-4th, 2019
  • Schroeder Aquatic Center, Brown Deer, Wisconsin
  • LCM (50m) pool
  • Meet Mobile: “2019 Wisconsin LC 13&O State Meet”

The 13-14 girls of the Elmbrook Swim Club in suburban Milwaukee have taken half-a-second off the National Age Group Record in the 13-14 girls’ 200 meter medley relay. The team of Margaret Wanezek (29.45), Lucy Thomas (32.05), Campbell Stoll (28.60), and Reese Tiltmann (27.37) combined for a 1:57.47. That broke the old record of 1:58.07 that was set in 2016 by a quartet from NCAP that included Phoebe Bacon, who is currently a US National Team member.

Comparative Splits:

NCAP Elmsbrook Swim Club
Old Record New Record
Fly Phoebe Bacon – 29.32 Margaret Wanezek – 29.45
Back Abigail Harter – 33.16 Lucy Thomas – 32.05
Breast Jillian Johnson – 28.98 Campbell Stoll – 28.60
Free Maya Fischer – 26.61 Reese Tiltmann – 27.37
Total 1:58.07 1:57.47

That Wanezek was able to stay close to Bacon’s split, when Bacon is primarily a backstroker, is maybe the most impressive split of the Elmsbrook relay. Lucy Thomas 32.05 breaststroke split was the difference-maker, though, as that gave the Elmsbrook relay the hypothetical lead ahead of the ‘record line’ that Campbell Stoll grew and Reese Tiltmann held on to for the record.
