Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Lafayette, California-native Emily Gebhardt is heading downstate to take her swimming talents to San Diego State beginning this fall.

Gebhardt, who attended Acalanes High School and swam for Orinda Aquatics, finished 10th in the 200 free (1:50.02) at the California CIF State Swimming & Diving Championships in May. She also was part of the school’s fourth place 200 free relay team. Gebhardt was fourth in the 500 free (4:58.98) and fifth in the 200 free (1:50.79) at the CIF North Coast Section Championships as a senior.

Gebhardt was a member of Acalanes’ fifth place 200 free relay and ninth place 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams at the California state meet in 2018, while finishing 24th in the 100 fly (56.44).

She was sixth in the 50 free (24.11) at the CIF North Coast Section Championships in 2017.

Most recently, Gebhardt swam the 50 free (25th, 27.21), 100 free (17th, 58.39), 200 free (20th, 2:13.79), 50 fly (22nd, 29.83) and 100 fly (22nd, 1:06.55) at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Clovis in June.

Gebhardt is qualified for the 2019 Futures meet in the 50 free (23.72) and 1000 free (10:20.34) and for the 2019 Winter Juniors in the 100 free (50.67).

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at San Diego State University in the fall,” Gebhardt said. “I would like to thank my coaches, family, and teammates for helping me achieve my goals, and supporting me throughout the process. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait for the next 4 years! Go Aztecs!!”
