Emma Feltzer Gives Her Commitment to Illinois State for 2021-22

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Emma Feltzer, a current high school junior from Edwardsburg, Michigan, has committed to swim for Division I Illinois State University. Feltzer will graduate from St. Joseph High School in spring 2021 and join the Redbirds’ class of 2025.

Feltzer is a current swimmer for Irish Aquatics and her high school at St. Joseph. She is an IHSAA Girls State Championships finalist in the 100 and 200 freestyle events along with qualifying for and competing at Sectionals and Futures.

“I am more than excited to announce that I have verbally committed to Illinois State University to continue my swimming career and pursue my education! I chose ISU because of the amazing team, coaches and campus that immediately felt like home to me! Thank you to all my friends, family and coaches for helping me through the good and the bad. Go Redbirds!🔴⚪️”

The talented junior will make waves specifically in the 100 and 200 freestyle once she arrives at Illinois State in the fall of 2021.

At the 2020 MVC Championships with the Redbirds, Feltzer would have placed 6th in the 100 freestyle (51.74) and 7th in the 200 freestyle (1:52.24) with her current best times as a high school junior.

Her time in the 200 freestyle would have put her as Illinois’ fastest 200 freestyle swimmer at MVC, with the next fastest team member coming in 19th place. Her time would have also earned her a spot on the 800 freestyle A relay.

Her 100 freestyle would have been the second-fastest on the team at this meet behind 3rd place Redbird Katie Tillotson (51.28). Feltzer should get an immediate spot on the team’s 400 freestyle A relay. That relay was 2nd at last year’s Missouri Valley Championship meet, but graduates the team’s bookends Tillotson (51.40) and Kierston Farley-Sepe (49.70).

Best SCY Times:

  • 50 freestyle – 24.07
  • 100 freestyle – 51.74
  • 200 freestyle – 1:52.24

At the MVAC Championships, the Redbirds placed 4th as a team under first-year head coach Caitlin Hamilton—their best team placing in three seasons. Seven team members were given MVC Scholar Athlete Team status, and senior Kiersten Farley-Sepe was named the MVC Swimmer of the Year.

Farley-Sepe won three conference titles. Two of those titles were meet records, and one was a new school record.
