In the midst of all this World Cup madness taking place in Brazil, the English Premier League team Swansea City A.F.C. stopped in Chicago for a two week pre-season tour of North America. Swansea City AFC is a Welsh professional soccer team located in Swansea, South Wales. They joined the English Premier league in 2011.
The soccer team is training at the University of Illinois in Chicago as a part of their American tour. After Tuesday’s triple training session was finished, the players dove into the swimming pool for some recovery work. They had a GoPro camera in the water to give their fans a sneak peak of their training and warm down in the pool.
UIC Head Coach, Tim Loeffler, is very excited about the opportunity for his staff and student-athletes to interact with the team. “It is amazing to see the commitment, focus, and work ethic these elite athletes put into each workout. For our staff, and student-athletes we are very fortunate to watch the character, and teamwork these athletes put forth in every work out, and give us a look in on what it takes to be one of the best in your sport.”
The American tour will see the Swans take on Mexican Premier League Chivas at Miller Park, Milwaukee, on Wednesday, July 16, before facing Minnesota United of the North American Soccer League at the National Sports Center Stadium in Minnesota.
