Esposto, Johnston Named to U.S. Worlds Roster

DURHAM, N.C. – Former Blue Devil standout Abby Johnston will represent the United States in two diving events at this summer’s FINA World Championships in in Kazan, Russia. The U.S. World Championships roster was finalized following last week’s USA Diving Individual World Championship Trials in Bloomington, Ind.

Duke head diving coach Nunzio Esposto will also make the trip to Russia after being selected to the coaching staff along with Randy Ableman, Drew Johansen and Dan Laak.

Johnston qualified for the World Championships in two events, winning the women’s synchronized 3-meter and mixed synchronized 3-meter titles last month at the USA Diving Synchronized National Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The former Duke All-America teamed with Laura Ryan to take first in the women’s synchronized 3-meter and also paired with Jordan Windle in the mixed gender event.

The 2015 FINA World Championships will be held July 24-August 2 at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan.
