Ethan Dang Breaks 200 Breaststroke National Age Group Record in Prelims of Husky Invitational

King Aquatic Club 12-year old Ethan Dang has broken his own National Age Group Record in the 200 yard breaststroke once again on Sunday at the 2014 Husky Invitational, swimming a 2:09.02. That swim puts him 6th heading into an open-age final (behind another noteable age group swim – a 2:07.67 from 14-year old Jonathan Cook).

Dang’s own previous record was a 2:09.37 that was swum in November, and before that this record belonged to Reece Whitley in 2:09.40.

This swim comes on the back of Dang’s record-breaking 58.36 from Saturday night which earned him the all-time marks in both the 50 and 100 yard breaststrokes for his age group.

Dang’s next goal in finals would be a Winter Junior Nationals time standard, which would mean a 2:05.89. Given how much he improved his lifetime best in breaking the 100 record on Saturday, that time standard isn’t out-of-reach, though it will be a tall task to improve another three-plus seconds before finals.

Full, live results of the Husky Invitational are available here.
