Ethan Dang continues to etch his name into the National Age Group (NAG) record books this weekend, breaking the 200 breaststroke NAG with a 2:09.37, according to King Aquatic Club coach Chris Ngy.

Dang, who broke both of the long course breaststroke records in the 11-12 age group earlier this year, now grabs his second short course national mark. He owns the 10&under 100 breast mark, and now erased the 11-12 200 breast record held by Reece Whitley.

Whitley, of course, is now on his own tear through the record books in the 13-14 division.

Dang’s time at the Pacific Northwest Division 3 Age Group Invite got under Whitley’s old mark by just .03. Dang went 2:09.37, a lifetime-best for him by a whopping five seconds.

This 2:09 is probably a lot more on par with his long course time, though, which stands at 2:27.88. The next record that would appear to be in Dang’s sights is the short course 100 breast mark, also a Whitley-owned record at 59.90. Dang’s best so far in his career is 1:01.56, but he’s also been a very quick 1:08.96 in the long course pool.

Dang’s splits from the meet:

200 breast – 29.39/1:02.36/36.01/2:09.37
100 breast – 28.51/1:00.35
200 IM – 26.63/58.79/1:32.92/2:02.70

Are you saying this 11-12 NAG record holder is going to go faster? That sounds crazy!! I thought he would go slower at his champs meet….
