European Championships Medalist Michal Chmielewski Has Broken Finger

2024 PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games is nearly upon us which means swimming action kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, July 27th at La Défense Arena.

Swimmers and staff from around the world are speaking to the media about how they’re acclimating to Paris and how final preparations are going.

Poland was no exception, with sprinter Kasia Wasick and butterfly ace Michal Chmielewski among those on hand.

However, Chmielewski appeared with a bandage on his right hand, which he said was a broken little finger.

‘The injury is interfering with training and is painful,’ reported Onet.

Chmielewski’s sole individual event is the men’s 200m fly whose heats are scheduled for Tuesday, July 30th. He currently ranks 21st in the world, courtesy of the 1:55.36 he put up for 4th place at this year’s World Championships.

Last month he earned bronze at the 2024 European Championships in 1:55.51 behind winner Kristof Milak of Hungary (1:54.43) and twin brother Krzysztof Chmielewski (1:54.78).
