Women’s Meet:

IRSC started the meet off strong with a win by over a second in the 200 Medley. The team of Yasmine Ware, Christina Loh, Emelie Stenhammar, and Osianna McReed touched in 1:46.42. Loh would go on in the meet to win  the 100 and 200 breast and the 200 IM  by very solid margins in each discipline. Additionally, McReed took first in the 50 free and third in the 100. She was also teamed up with Tayla Lovemore, Leah Sims, and Ware to bookend the meet with a win in the 400 free relay.

The FAU Seniors also had a strong showing in their second to last regular season meet of their careers. Agnes Bucz, of Budapest won the 1650 free by almost a 15 second margin, touching in 17:51.74. She also showcased her versatility by taking second in both the 100 free and 200 IM.  Senior Rachel Crino was featured on two second place relays on the day. She also took second in both the individual events that she competed in: the 100 and 200 back. Katie Dodge joined Crino on the two relays and also took third in the 500 free and first in the 200. Freestyler Abbey King was a relay contributor, in addition to her win the the 500 free.

Men’s Meet:

The Men’s meet shook out very similarly to the women’s meet. Although the Owls brought some tough competition to the pool, it wasn’t enough to take down IRSC. One of IRSC’s strongest events on the day was their complete sweep of the 200 breaststroke. Teammates Matthew Ankerholtz, Serginni Marten and Andrew Wojcik lead the charge in the 200. Marten and Ankerholz also took the top two spots in the 100 to lead to another IRSC sweep.

Yet more event sweeps for IRSC were the 100 free (John Fauteux, Craig Emsile, and Gavin Erdmann) and the 500 free ( Jason Van Der Touw, Matt Nielson,  and  Alexander Berggren).

Senior Matthieu Burtez lead the charge for the FAU seniors, taking convincing wins in both the 50 and  200 free. He was also the anchor leg on both of the relay wins for FAU. Johannes Johnston was the top FAU finisher in the 200 breast and second fasted for FAU in the 100. Sprinter Hunter Swartsel was also the top FAU finisher in the 100 back, which was good for a third place finish over all.

The FAU women return to competition on February 6th to take on FIU, while the men won’t see competition again until the CCSA Championships that begin on February 17th. IRSC will return to competition on February 6th for the Stanton C. Craigie Invitational.
