Kaue Da Silva Carvalho (Corinthians) had a huge drop to dip under the Junior Worlds cut with his time of 2:01.40 in 200 butterfly. His previous best time was a 2:015.13. He wasn’t the only swimmer to get the junior cut in the 200 butterfly. Giovanny Lima (SESI-SP) also broke the cut by .05 seconds with his time of 2:01.85.
In men’s 100 breaststroke, Felipe Lima (Minas) made the broke one minute to swim under the World Championships cut with a 59.78. That time will stand as the third fastest time in the world this year.

Brazil will lose 1 – 1.5 s in 100 back against australia, japan, gb, australia, usa, france. In 100 fly they will lose 0.5 – 1. They cant make up for that in 100 breast/free. Santana/cielo will struggle to not lose additional time against magnussen/mcevoy, manaudou, adrian, so no chance for a medal.
Actually if you take pan pacs.. Pereira split faster than Dorsogna and almost the same of Ikebata.. and Cielo has some 51 low fly splits on his career. The problem is the back..Guido already swam under 54 some times.. but lacks consistency..if he could do a 53 mid-high França/Lima could split 59 flat.. plus a 51 mid-high and a 47 low which would add to 3:31 high 3:32 low actually.. but everybody would have to swim their best.. But as said before.. back is the problem..
Im not sure that dorsogna will be part of australia’s medley relay, i would think that it will be hadler. Phelps, barrett, metella are still clearly faster than pereira and we also have the young chinese guy who will probably be in the same category by rio.
Brazil loses another second in breaststroke to gb (peaty). Walker-Hebborn is at least 1s faster than any brazilian backstroker, so brazil would have to make up about 2s at 100 free against gb -> impossible.
Against france brazil loses about 1s in mens 100 back (stravius, lacourt). Lets say pereira would be as fast as metella and santana/cielo will be as fast as manaudou, then brazil would have to make up about… Read more »
France is not “that” strong in medley relay IMO; Perez-Dortona in behind most Breaststrokers on those teams; Metella is good but not extraordinary and I would not put Manaudou on that relay If I had Stravius, Gilot or Agnel in good form
Maybe Brazil even has a chance in the Men’s Medley relay? Not impossible in front of the home crowd.
ummmm no
They would have to make the final first! They have a history of not making the relays a piority.
