FINA to Add France as 8th Leg of 2015 Short Course World Cup

In the 2012 and 2013 seasons, FINA expanded the FINA World Cup Series to 8 stops, and piggybacking off of the 2013 World Championships, that led to one of the best-attended and most successful series ever.

In 2014, however, FINA dialed that series back to 7 cities, and almost entirely moved out of Europe, with the exception of Moscow – home of the series’ title sponsor Mastbank.

Both of those moves will be reversed, in part, in 2015, as FINA approved the addition of an 8th stop in next year’s series in France.

The federation announced the decision on Friday, though said they were still undecided as to whether that stop would be in Paris or in Chartres, which hosted the 2012 European Short Course Championships.

They also approved the return of the 7 stops from last year: Moscow (RUS), Singapore (SIN), Beijing (CHN), Tokyo (JPN), Hong Kong (HKG), Doha (QAT) and Dubai (UAE). No full schedule including dates has been released yet.

Very good news.
We are in economic crisis for 6 years now, like most of the Euro zone, but we continue to be chosen to host big sports competitions.
Miracle!
Men’s basketball Euro 2015
Rowing world championships 2015
Soccer Euro 2016
Canoe kayak world championships 2017
Ice hockey world championships 2017
Handball world championships 2017
Ryder Cup 2018
Now a swimming world cup.
Weird but very cool.
Last swimming world cup in France was in 2001 in Paris.

They may be too busy looking at the bottom of the pool to notice.
