FINA executives received a briefing on January 17th regarding preparations for the 2017 FINA World Championship meet. The Executive Director of the Organizing Committee, Ms. Éva Szántó, made the presentation which covered progress towards plans for the meet including hotel capacity and construction on the pool. Work on the Dagály Aquatics Complex is proceeding quickly according to the presentation, and the pools were recently filled. Hotel capacity is now considered sufficient for all the participants and fans attending the World Championships, in addition to other events going on at the same time including a Formula 1 race.
The presentation wrapped up with a look at FINA’s ticket sales for the event, which are at their highest since the 2009 World Championships in Italy when Metallica opened the meet with a concert in Hungary. Twenty percent of the tickets sold so far have been sold internationally for the 2017 championships.
The 2017 FINA World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary from July 14–30.
