Representatives from the UAE, Argentina, Qatar, Japan, Turkey and China met with FINA officials today in Lausanne to discuss information regarding hosting the 2021 and 2023 World Championships and Masters World Championships.
FINA briefed the representatives on the benefits, economic impact, and legacy generated with the organization of these Championships. Presentations on marketing, digital strategy, TV broadcasting, accommodation/travel, and milestones on the bidding procedure were provided to the participants in the meeting.
“The FINA World Championships is presently one of the most popular and successful sport events in the planet, massively followed by media and showed to billions of TV viewers in the five continents. To have so many potential candidates at this stage demonstrates the value of our major event. With your support, Aquatics continues to be a brand of excellence at global scale”, considered Mr. Cornel Marculescu, FINA Executive Director.
In addition to representatives from the potential host cities, serval FINA partners were in attendance such as Omega, Myrtha Pools, and others.
The opening ceremonies of the 2015 FINA World Championships are less than a month of way. The event will be hosted in Kazan, Russia. The 2017 edition of the meet will take place in Budapest, Hungary and in the 2019 edition of the meet will be hosted in Gwangju, South Korea. Gwanju is also tasked with hosting another major international competition this year. They are hosting 2015 World University Games which start this weekend.
