At long last, FINA has released the psych sheets that we’ve all been waiting for! The full startlists can be seen on Omegatiming.com at the link below:
Refresh this page frequently, as we will update it if there are any significant findings while parsing through the psych sheets.
USA – Despite hopes to the contrary, the USA has entered only one man in the 50 fly (Cullen Jones) and 50 breast (Mark Gangloff)…In one of their two head-to-head events, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will swim in the same preliminary heat. In heat 7 of 8, Lochte will be in lane 4 and Phelps will be in lane 5.
Australia – Emily Seebohm and Belinda Hocking are both swimming the 50 back…Brenton Rickard is entered in the 50 breastsroke…
Japan – Japan’s impressive male breaststroke group is focusing on Olympic events, and has no entries in the 50. Kitajima ended 2010 ranked #3 in the world…
China – 200 free National Champ Zhang Lin continues his spiral, as he’s now been removed from the men’s 200 free for Yunqi Li and Hiaqi Jiang. Zhang was already removed from the 800 free, where he’s the World Record holder, for poor conditioning…
Spain – Mireia Belmonte Garcia doesn’t fear anything in swimming. If the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 fly didn’t make for a tough enough schedule (she was the short course World Champ in all three last year), she’s going to again try the 800 free as well. She’s the 14th seed in that race, though she took silver short course in 2010: her only race that she didn’t win.
The Netherlands – Inge Dekker and Marleen Veldhuis were chosen to swim the 50 fly. Any number of the Dutch sprinters could have taken those spots and been threats to medal.
Fran Halsall has released the British 4×100 heats formation for tomorrow:
Smith-Halsall-Turner-Mcclatchey!
Clearly trying to get our of the pack with our fastest swimmers out front!
When did Neil Versfeld do 1:00.39?

Also, it appears that Agnel’s participation in the 4x100m free is still in doubt. France is going to swim Bernard, Stravius, Meynard, Gilot in that order in the prelims. If all goes well, they will field the SAME team in the finals. If a swimmer underperforms or is sick, the two alternates will be Fred Bousquet and Yannick Agnel.
Yannick says his sole focus is the 400m, which is probably his best shot at indiivudal medal.
This is a very interesting lineup for the French. I’m as curious as anyone out ther whether Bernard can pop a time that his suit times hints that he’s capable of. This is probably designed to give… Read more »
On a more serious note, Sun and Mellouli are in the same prelim sess in the 1500m hmmm…
And 0.00 in men’s 100 fly must be a new WR no?
What kind of suit was he wearing?
I agree, many of these times are very suspect.
For example:
BRUNLEHNER Sylvia from Kenya. She is in lane 4 in heat 10 with listed time as 25.45
I cannot find her name in the top 150 in the past year.
Either many of these times submitted are fakes or they were swum in other than LCM. I am surprised FINA did not demand more stringent verification.
I dont know if this counts as significant but the number 1 qualifier for the men’s 100m fly is Crox Ernesto Acuna from Venezuela with a time of 0.00, you better not blink.
thank you! guess I can’t procrastinate making picks anymore….
