With the cancellation of Saturday night’s World Cup finals session in Singapore, FINA had time to catch up on highlights from the series’ previous stop in Beijing, China, which took place earlier this week.
In a rare turn in Beijing, Katinka Hosszu was not the overwhelmingly-dominant force that she usually is at these World Cup meets, and won just the 200 IM and 400 IM. Instead it was the Australians, led by a Cate Campbell sprint double in world-class marks of 24.30 and 52.96, respectively, who stole the show.
The home team Chinese, who usually don’t have a big World Cup presence outside of their hosted meets, also made an impact with 7 event victories.
