FINIS, a world leader in technical swimming products announces the addition of former NCAA Champion, Amanda Sims. After a successful competitive swimming career at the University of California, Berkeley, Sims joins FINIS to assist in Custom Swimwear & Apparel and Domestic Sales.
Sims found success at an early age as a member of the Santa Rosa (CA) Neptunes in 100m and 200m Butterfly. She chose to continue her education and athletic career in Berkeley and joined a strong Golden Bear squad. At the 2009 NCAA Div-I Championships, Sims bolted to an amazing time of 51.28 in the Women’s 100yd Butterfly which earned her an individual NCAA title. Berkeley would also go on to win the team NCAA Championships that year. Sims was also a member of the National Team, representing the United States at the 2009 World University Games in Serbia, where she placed 4th in the 100m Butterfly.
“We feel very fortunate to have Amanda join us,” explains FINIS CEO, John Mix. “Her reputation as not only an elite swimmer, but also a hard worker and a bright young mind make her a great addition to our team. We look forward to her jumping into our Custom process, which is already exciting for us, and then helping us take it to the next level. The sky is the limit.”
About FINIS
Founded in 1993 in Northern California, FINIS was started by John Mix and Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer Pablo Morales. The Monofin and the Swimmer’s Snorkel were the first products they developed for the US market; afterwards, they continued to focus on creating training tools for swimmers and coaches worldwide. FINIS products are currently available in over 65 countries and are used by US and International Olympic teams, elite triathletes, and fitness swimmers.
Innovative research and design is FINIS’ highest priority. This dedication has resulted in truly unique products such as: the Swimmer’s Snorkel, which is recognized as the paramount tool to improve a swimmer’s technique, the Neptune MP3 that uses bone conduction technology to transmit music to the inner ear instead of using ear buds, and the Z2 Zoomers fins, which demonstrate an intimate understanding of swimming musculature, hydrodynamics, and engineering.

Congrats to Amanda-great girl, great swimmer. Neptune’s a pretty small club in sparsely populated Sonoma County, but they’ve turned out Amanda, Maya DiRado, and Molly Hannis in recent years-that’s a ton of talent. Amanda’s dad Paul also swam for Neptune and on Cal’s first men’s NCAA championship team.
