Finnish National Records Come Crashing Down On Day 1 Of The Findland National Championships

On the first day of the Finnish National Championships, Eetu Piiroinen earned 816 Fina points with a new Finnish National Record in the 400m freestyle, posting a time of 3.55.99. Piiroinen was not the only swimmer to break records on day 1 of competition. The team of Aleksi EskelinenSami JuopperiJere Laukkanen and Riku Pöytäkivi broke the Finnish National Record in the 4x200m freestyle with a time of 7:36.96.

Lotta Upanne won the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:19.00. That swim was good for another record. The final record of the night came from Laura Lajunen. Lajunen broke the 9 minute barrier in the women’s 800m freestyle, posting a time of 8:59.72.
