Florida Adds Kristen Murslack To Women’s & Men’s Swim & Dive Coaching Staff

Florida has hired former Pitt assistant Kristen Murslack to its swimming & diving coaching staff, the school announced this week.

Murslack was previously an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh for two seasons, working with the butterfly and IM groups and serving as the primary recruiting contact on the women’s side. She joins a Florida program that just re-combined its men’s and women’s programs under head coach Anthony NestyThe Gators had a combined program for years under Gregg Troy, but when Troy retired from college coaching, the school chose to split its programs up between two coaches already on staff, with Nesty stepping up to head the men’s program and Jeff Poppell taking over the women’s program.

But this offseason, Poppell moved to South Carolina, taking on a combined-gender program there. Florida then elected to re-combine its men’s and women’s programs, putting Nesty in charge of both.

Murslack is an SEC alumnus as an athlete – she competed at Auburn from 2013 to 2017. Murslack also coached there, but with the women’s soccer program. She was a graduate assistant for Auburn women’s soccer and also interned with swimming & diving. She has also previously coached at Pine-Richland High School and Pine-Richland Aquatics Club in Pennsylvania.

Florida is expected to bring back associate head coach Steve Jungbluth (who coached the men last year) and associate head coach Whitney Hite (who coached the women under Poppell), along with diving coach Bryan Gilooly. Along with Nesty and Murslack, that leaves one more paid coaching opening on Florida’s new staff.
