Florida & Alabama Pick Up SEC Co-Male Swimmers Of The Week

Co-Male Swimmers of the Week
Robert Howard • Alabama
Junior • Alexander City, Ala.

Howard posted three individual wins and was a part of five winning relays during the Georgia Tech Invitational. He recorded a career-best 41.99 in the 100 freestyle, the nation’s top time in the event. Howard also registered a career-best 19.11 in the 50 freestyle, which ranks him third nationally. His career-best 1:33.75 in the 200 freestyle ranks him fifth nationally and second all-time at UA. All five relays Howard swam on posted season-best marks and are ranked in the top five nationally, including two in the top two and two in the top three.

Jan Switkowski • Florida
Senior • Lublin, Poland

Switkowski won two individual events and was a part of two winning relays as No. 3 Florida won the Purdue Invitational over No. 1 Indiana and No. 22 North Carolina. He recorded three NCAA A-cuts and nine B-cuts during the meet, including the top time in the nation to win the 400 IM (3:42.50) and the 12th best time nationally to win in the 200 back (1:42.70).

Male Diver of the Week
Juan Celaya-Hernandez • LSU
Sophomore • San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico

Celaya-Hernandez swept both springboards events at the Art Adamson Invitational. He finished the 1-meter with a score of 399.95 and the 3-meter with a score of 459.20. Celaya-Hernandez placed second in the platform with a score of 362.30.

Male Freshman of the Week
Tanner Olson • Texas A&M
Saugus, Calif.

Olson posted NCAA B cut times in three events as No. 6 Texas A&M won the Art Adamson Invitational. He placed third in the 100 breaststroke (53.76) and the 200 breaststroke (1:55.65). Olson also finished 11th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.65.

Female Swimmer of the Week
Asia Seidt • Kentucky
Sophomore • Louisville, Ky.

Seidt won all three of her individual events on the weekend to help lead the Wildcats to their first-ever team title at the Ohio State Invitational. She took first in the 200 IM with the fourth fastest time in the nation of 1:53.84, which was a meet record, school record and NCAA ‘A’ cut. Seidt went on to sweep the backstroke events, breaking the school record in the 100 back in 51.17 and receiving her second NCAA automatic bid in the 200 back with a time of 1:50.67. Both of her times in the backstroke events currently rank as the fourth fastest in the country.

Female Diver of the Week
Brooke Schultz • Arkansas
Freshman • Fayetteville, Ark.

Schultz recorded two wins at the Art Adamson Invitational to remain undefeated in her freshman season. She earned the top spot in the 1-meter with 328.15 points, and set a school record with her finish in the 3-meter with a final score of 370.95.

Female Freshman of the Week
Bailey Bonnett • Kentucky
Pittsburgh, Pa.

Bonnett helped Kentucky to victory at the Ohio State Invitational, sweeping the breaststroke events and contributing to two relay victories. She swam the breaststroke leg of Kentucky’s 400 medley relay team which posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:32.31. Bonnett was the only breaststroker in the field to go sub-one minute on the leg, with a 59.08 split. In the 100 breast, she went 59.60, the only swimmer in the meet to go under a minute in the event and now one of just 12 swimmers in Division I to have gone under one minute in the event this season. Bonnett won the 200 breast to lower the school record to 2:07.83, the fourth-fastest time in the nation this year.
