Florida Gets a Twofer with Pair of Verbals from Clark and Ethan Beach

Twin brothers Clark Beach and Ethan Beach from Quest Swimming of Midlothian, Virginia verbally committed to the University of Florida this week.

The Beach brothers are seniors at Matoaca High School in the Richmond area. They share an affinity for backstroke events, and both swam at Olympic Trials this summer. Clark dropped 2.5 seconds and won the 200m back at Speedo Junior Nationals; he also placed third in the 100m back, cracking 56 seconds for the first time. Ethan, who is beginning to close the gap his brother had had on him, placed fifth in the 200 and tenth in the 100 back, earning lifetime-bests with both swims.

The twins also excel in freestyle and IM events. Their best times are:

There are another set of twins a year younger…Patrick & Ryan Gridley. One Gridley twin finished 9th in the 100 back at summer juniors & one finished 11th with Ethan sandwiched between them. The Gridley twins just swam identical times in their local meet in Chicago. I’m not sure if this has ever happened with the Beach twins.
