Florida’s Jan Switkowski Named SEC Male Swimmer Of The Week

Senior Jan Switkowski was named Male Swimmer of the Week, as the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.

The Lublin, Poland native registered five top-2 finishes against No. 2 Texas and No. 6 Indiana, including a win in the 200 butterfly.

Switkowski posted three B-cut times over the weekend, recording a 43.50 in the 100 free, 1:34.59 in the 200 free and 1:45.24 in the 200 fly. Over the course of the season thus far, he has notched NCAA B-cut qualifying times a team-best four events (100 free, 200 free, 200 fly, 200 IM).

Also against the Longhorns and Hoosiers, he recorded a season-best split of 20.61 in the 200 medley relay.

Through the first two meets of the season, he has won four individual events and five relays to give him a team-best nine wins.

He currently ranks in the top 10 in the nation in three events: the 100 free, 200 free and 200 fly. His 200 freestyle time of 1:34.59 puts him fourth in the nation, while his 200 fly time of 1:45.24 ranks him sixth. His 43.50 in the 100 free puts him at 10th in the country, rounding out his top-10 rankings.

Switkowski and the entire Gator squad compete Wednesday against Alabama at 3 p.m. EST/2 p.m. CT.
