Former NCAA Champ Drew Livingston Hired as Princeton Head Diving Coach

Two-time NCAA Champion Drew Livingston, a former Texas Longhorn, has been hired as the new head diving coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at Princeton.

Livingston was named the 2012 NCAA Championships Diver of the Year and a 10-time All-American. He twice won the NCAA Championship on the 1-meter springboard, taking the title both in his freshman season (2009) and senior season (2012).

Livingston started his coaching career by working at his alma mater during the 2013-2014 season, and then spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at LSU while working on his MBA.

“I’m excited and genuinely grateful for the opportunity to join the Princeton Swimming and Diving family,” Livingston said. “Princeton is a special institution with a rich history of academic and athletic success. I’m looking forward to working with some of the finest student-athletes in the world and helping them reach their goals in and out of the pool.”

In Livingston’s two years at LSU, their divers combined to break 3 of the 6 applicable school records.

Livingston will lead both the men’s and women’s diving programs, which train together despite the swimming programs having separate head coaches.

Livingston replaces Greg Gunn, who announced his resignation after 30 years leading the Tiger diving teams. Gunn coached 30 individual Ivy League champions and nine All-America honorees throughout his Princeton career, and he helped the Tigers win 36 Ivy League swimming and diving team championships (19 men, 17 women) during his tenure.

Princeton’s top returning diver is senior-to-be Nathan Makarewicz, who was 3rd on the 1-meter and 5th on the 3-meter at last year’s Ivy League Championships.

Congratulations both to Princeton and to Drew. A great add to the coaching staff.
