Former Tulane Assistant Greyson Heckman Joins TCU Swim Staff

TCU’s combined swimming and diving program added former Tulane assistant Greyson Heckman to its coaching staff on Friday for the 2024-25 season.

Heckman spent the past two seasons at Tulane, briefly serving as interim head coach before the Green Wave hired Amanda Caldwell. Tulane broke four school records last season and sent one swimmer to the NCAA Championships. Before Tulane, he served as a volunteer assistant at Kansas for one season, helping the Jayhawk women earn a runner-up finish at the 2022 Big 12 Championships.

As a swimmer, Heckman competed at both Cleveland State (2013-15) and the University of South Dakota (2015-18). At South Dakota, he twice made the Summit League honor roll.

“We are very excited to have Coach Heckman join our staff this season,” said TCU head coach James Winchester, who’s entering his seventh season leading the Horned Frogs. “His experience and previous successes will help elevate our team to new heights.”

Last season, Winchester had four swim coaches on his staff: associate head coach Alice McCall, assistant coach Carolyn Meier, assistant coach Graydon Tedder, and assistant coach Rob Zamorano. It is not yet known whether Heckman is replacing one of those four aforementioned coaches or becoming the fifth assistant on staff.

The TCU women placed 3rd at the 2024 Big 12 Championships while the men earned a runner-up finish behind Texas. The Horned Frogs will no longer have the Longhorns to contend with in the Big 12, but they will now have to go through defending national champion Arizona State after another round of conference realignment this summer.
