Four British Junior Records Fall On Night Two Of OJI

2016 ONTARIO JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL

The second night of competition at the Ontario Junior International showcased some amazing talent from British swimmers as three British Junior records were broken in the 25-meter pool.

The first record came in the women’s 200m butterfly as Emily Large took down her own British Junior record of 2:07.21 that she set this morning with a winning time of 2:07.00. The 15-year-old bettered Keanna MacInnes’ 2:08.79 record this morning in the heats. MacInnes set that record last week.

In tonight’s final Large and MacInnes went head-to-head with Large ultimately coming up successful. MacInnes finished second, short of her Scottish NAG record time of 2:08.79.

Elliot Clogg continued his domination here in Toronto after winning both the 50m backstroke and 200m freestyle last night with a stellar time of 53.43 in the men’s 100m backstroke. Clogg, 16, won the race by just 17 one-hundredths, breaking his previous British Junior record of 54.14 that he set last year. Tonight’s swim marks Clogg’s first time ever under 54-seconds in the short course 100m backstroke.

Freya Anderson came home strong in the women’s 400m freestyle to finish second overall to Canada’s Mary-Sophie Harvey with a time of 4:05.69. That time bettered Holly Hibbit’s British Junior record of 4:08.43 by almost three-seconds.
