Four more wins for Italy at Mediterranean Games

One the second night of competition at the Mediterranean Games in Turkey, Italy added four more wins for a total of nine in the competition. In three of those wins they finished in the top two spots.

Marco Orsi won the 50 freestyle in a time of 22.15 he was followed by countryman Luca Dotto who recorded a time of 22.20 for second while Kristian Gkolomeev of Greece finished third in a time of 22.35.

In the women’s 200 backstroke Ambra Esposito took the event in a time of 2:12.21 followed by Margherita Panziera who posted a time of 2:12.86. Halime Zulal Zeren of Turkey finished third in a time of 2:14.93.

In the final individual event of the evening Ilaria Bianchi, who has been 58.14 this year, won the women’s 100 butterfly in a time of 58.63. She was followed by fellow Italian Elena Di Liddo who finished second in a time of 59.23 and Beryl Gastaldello of France who finished third in a time of 1:00.32.

The Italians were also victorious in the men’s 4 x 100 freestyle relay where they posted a time of 3:15.99 which is the fastest relay done so far this year.

Other winners included:

Women’s 50 freestyle – Anna Santamans (FRA) – 25.03

Men’s 200 backstroke – Benjamin Stasiulis (FRA) – 1:58.66

Men’s 100 butterfly – Ivan Lendjer (SBR) – 52.30
