Free/Back Specialist Demi-Lee Carlisle Joins MSU-Moorhead’s Class of 2025

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Demi-Lee Carlisle, who hails from Johannesburg, South Africa, has committed to swim for Minnesota State University at Moorhead, joining their incoming class of 2025. Moorhead, MN lies at the Minnesota-North Dakota border, adjacent to Fargo, ND.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Minnesota Moorhead!! I wouldn’t have gotten this chance if it weren’t for my amazing family, friends, and coaches and I am beyond grateful to American College Connection for helping me along the way!! Let go Dragons!

The majority of Carlisle’s best times in long course stem from the 2019 championship season, where she represented her club team, the Florida Swimming Club (South Africa). At the 2019 South Africa National Championships meet, she popped four personal bests in the 50 free, 100 and 200 back, and 200 IM, dropping at least half a second in all of those swims.

Top Times LCM:

  • 50 Free- 28.59
  • 100 Free- 1:02.51
  • 100 Back- 1:08.71
  • 200 Back- 2:29.10
  • 200 IM- 2:32.73

Minnesota State University-Moorhead competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Northern Sun Conference. At the 2021 NSIC Conference Championships, MSU-Moorhead finished 7th out of 9 teams with 536 points. Minnesota State-Mankato topped the women’s team title race with 1033 points, with Saint Cloud State and the University of Sioux Falls finishing second and third with 858.5 and 767.5 points, respectively. In recent history, MSU-Moorhead’s women’s team has finished as high as third, back in the 2017 edition of this meet.

When converting Carlisle’s best long course times, she would theoretically be ranked second in the 50 free at a 25.03, third in the 100 free at a 54.87, third in the 100 back at a 1:00.81, first in the 200 back at a 2:12.16, and second in the 200 IM at a 2:12.71 on MSU-Moorhead’s 2020-2021 roster. At the conference level, she would score in all of the aforementioned events in either the B or C-final based on the 2021 results.

Carlisle will join a strong sprint group, overlapping one year with Alexis Bray, the Dragon’s top sprinter with best times of 24.2 and 53.1 in the 50 and 100 free, respectively. This group also includes five women sub-26 and two sub-55. Bray also holds the top time in the 100 back with a 58.3, with fellow backstroker Kate Macgregor closely behind at a 59.0.

She will join Isabella Hanson of Bellevue, Nebraska, a fellow free/back specialist, and Danielle Heckaman of nearby Fargo in the class of 2025.
