Freestyle Specialist Anna Grinberg Commits to the University of the Pacific

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Anna Grinberg of Moss Beach, CA has committed to swim at the University of the Pacific beginning in the fall of 2020. Grinberg is a senior at Design Tech High School and she swims year-round for Burlingame Aquatic Club under head coach Ben Chung. She shared the news by saying, “I am super excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at the University of the Pacific! Thank you to Coach Ben, my parents, and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. Go Tigers!!”

In March, Grinberg competed at the Small School Invitational in Atherton, CA. She swam the 100 and 200 free at the varsity level, earning a silver and a gold medal. She breezed to a first-place finish in the 200 free (1:58.49), coming to the wall 3.5 seconds behind second-place finisher Ella Woodhead of Sacred Heart Preparatory.  In the 100 free, Grinberg was narrowly out-touched by Zoe Jacobs of the King’s Academy Knights, finishing second by 0.02 seconds. She ended the meet by anchoring Design Tech’s 200 free relay.

In February, Grinberg joined her club team at the Speedo Sectional Championships in Carlsbad. She swam the 50, 100, and 200 free, as well as 3 relays and a time trial. She ended the meet with personal best times in the 200 and 500 free. She led off Burlingame’s 800-free relay, clocking in at 1:54.97. This was 1.3 seconds faster than what she went in her individual 200 free race only a day earlier. Grinberg time trialed the 500 free, dropping 9.16 seconds from her entry time to earn a new personal best time.

Top SCY Times:

  • 200 free – 1:54.97
  • 50 free – 24.79
  • 500 free – 5:07.34
  • 100 free – 54.17
  • 1650 free – 18:02.51
  • 1000 free – 10:45.17

When she joins the Tigers in the fall, Grinberg will be the team’s fastest 500 freestyler. She would have been seeded third behind Brigid McNally and Taylor Hosmer, but she will move up in the rankings once the two women graduate in May. Similarly, she will be the team’s second-fastest 1000 and 1650 freestyler behind rising-senior  Kendall Bromley.
