French Junior National Teamer Louise Lefebvre Verbally Commits To Florida

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Louise Lefebvre of Mulhouse Olympique Natation in France has announced that she will be joining the Florida Gators in the fall of 2020. Lefebvre, primed to be the Gators’ next big backstroker, has recently been selected to represent Team France at Euro Juniors. She has career-best times in 100 and 200 SCM backstrokes that, converted via the SwimSwam Swim Time Converter, would have earned her NCAA ‘B’ cuts in both races and would have taken 8th place and 14th place respectively at the 2019 SEC Championship meet.

Lefebvre was the 2019 France Juniors Champion in the 200 LCM backstroke (2:14.27) and took 7th place in the 100 LCM backstroke at the 2018 LEN European Junior Championships over the summer (1:02.36). Since 2016, she has dropped 4.14 seconds in the 100 SCM backstroke, 3.64 seconds in the 100 LCM backstroke, 6.68 seconds in the 200 SCM backstroke, and 7.53 seconds in the 200 LCM backstroke.

She will represent France again at the 2019 European Junior Championships.

Event SCM LCM Best Time Converted to SCY
50 free 26.67 27.52 24.02
100 free 58.39 1:00.15 52.60
200 free 2:05.96 2:07.62 1:52.09
400/500 free 4:24.88 4:29.17 5:01.59
100 back 58.71 1:01.97 52.89
200 back 2:07.92 2:14.27 1:55.24

Lefebvre will be joining a Gators team that is fresh off an SEC runner up effort last year, missing out on the team title by only 83 points and moving up from a 7th place finish in 2018; their last team title was in 2009. In the 100 yard backstroke, her converted time would have been the third fastest time on the 2018-2019 team behind current juniors Sherridon Dressel and Emma Ball, both of which will have graduated when Lefebvre arrives in Gainesville. Her converted career-best 200 yard backstroke time would have been the fourth fastest time on the team last year behind Dressel, current senior Sydney Sell, and current Mabel Zavaros with Zavaros being the only member on that list that will swim collegiately with Lefebvre.

She will be joining Amanda Ray, Carly Schwab, Chloe Grimme, Kenady Beil, Lain Shahboz, and Madison Kolessar as members of the Class of 2024. Shahboz is the only other backstroker of this class, but between this class and the class of 2019/2023 Lefebvre is the top backstroker out of them.

Great news for Louise!
I’m sure it will help her improve a lot and peak for Paris 2024.
