“France, the third nation in overall swimming medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London”
NOT TRUE.
1. USA – 31 medals
2. Japan – 11 medals
3. Australia – 10 medals
3. China – 10 medals
5. France – 7 medals.
So France was fifth in overall swimming medals.
Third in the medal table with 4 titles.
The article says “overall swimming medals”, NOT “medal table”
The European/rest of the world count their medals differently than we do. We count total medals – they count golds first, then silvers, then bronze. Overall medal count does not factor in for them.
Then the writer, who I presume is a french, should have been more clear.
Stravius and Manaudou will have a monster meet.
They are in great shape.
Already almost a French record for Stravius in the 100 fly prelims. 50.60 for him. He should crush the record of 50.48 by Fred Bousquet tonight in final.
Stravius continues to impress with his versatility.
He leaves a little the IM training since Barcelona to focus on backstroke and on butterfly. He works very hard the 100 fly for the next summer.
I would love to see him in 100IM vs Morozov.
And thanks for the tip, it’s easy sometimes to forget about our Danish swimmers abroad. I struggle to follow US swimming as well as you do 🙂
And Danishswimfan, keep an eye on the US nationals tonight. 11 PM for us in France and Denmark. Anders Nielsen can win a medal at the US nationals in the 500 free!
I don’t think that’ll happen. Anders is great, but Michigan wouldn’t go all out for this meet. I think he’ll get fifth.
