Frye, Hornyak Named CCSA Swimmers of the Week

Men’s Announcement

ATLANTA, Ga. –  Gardner-Webb’s John Frye earned the first CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor of the 2020-21 season, announced Tuesday by the league office. This is the first award for Frye in his career and first for the Runnin’ Bulldogs since Feb. 4, 2020 when Jordan Mintz was recognized as the top swimmer of the week.

– First CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor of her career, the 11th Gardner-Webb swimmer to be honored in CCSA history
– Helped the Runnin’ Bulldogs capture the team’s first win of the season as they defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 163-97
– Earned a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.21
– Swam a 2:14.44 in the 200 breaststroke, earning his second individual first-place finish on the young season
– Helped the 200 medley relay earn first with a time of 1:34.28, as he swam the second leg

Women’s Announcement

ATLANTA, Ga. –  Georgia Southern’s Annamaria Hornyak earned the CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor, announced Tuesday by the league office. This is the first award for Hornyak in her career and the 10th swimmer recognized overall for the Eagles since 2008 when Ali Campbell was named the second Swimmer of the Week in CCSA history.

– First CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor of her career and the 10th swimmer honored from Georgia Southern
– Opened the season with two individual first-place finishes in the dual meet against Campbell
– Had a first-place time of 1:04.28 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2:08.05 in the 200 IM
– Both times are the fastest in the conference so far this season by two seconds in the 100 breast and three seconds in the 200 IM
– Also swam on the second-place finishing 400 medley relay, swimming a 1:03.93 for the breaststroke
