Tallahassee, Fla.  – The Florida State swimming and diving teams will hit the road to face Florida in the Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown on Friday.

Diving will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville starting at 12 p.m. each day, while swimming events will be held in Ocala, Fla., on Friday at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training Facility.

“We’re excited to swim a very good Florida team at this new facility in Ocala,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “It’s a great opportunity for some fast swims indoors against some great competition. It’s a great way for us to continue to get ready for championship season.”

The teams will compete in 16 events including the 100s and 200s of each stroke in addition to 50, 500, 1650 free, and 400 IM. The meet will start off with the 200 medley relay and finish with the 200 free relay.

The divers will compete on 1-meter and 3-meter on Friday before contesting in a platform event on Saturday.

Live timing will be available through the meet mobile app.

The Series

Florida holds the advantage in both series, 59-24-1 for the men, dating back to 1956, and 46-3 for the women.

This will also be the first time the meet is held at a neutral site.

The Last Time Out

The 16th-ranked FSU men defeated LSU on the road 180-120, moving to 3-1, 1-0 ACC on the season. The RV women (5-2, 2-0 ACC) dropped their contest to the No. 25 Tigers 119.5-180.5.

The divers swept the ACC weekly honors after contributing a pair of victories. Tazman Abramowicz turned in a season-best on 3-meter (367.43) for first place to claim the men’s award, while Samantha Vear won 1-meter with a score of 304.73, finishing over 16 points ahead of the next competitor. It was her second women’s honor of the season.

On Florida

The eighth-ranked women’s team is 5-1 on the year, while the No. 4 men are 4-1.  The Gators also competed at the Georgia Invite in the Fall, with both teams finishing first.
