FSU Welcomes Auburn For Friday Dual

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Swimming and Diving programs will host Auburn at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Friday in their first home competition of the 2021-2022 season.

The meet will start at 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The meet will follow the 16-event format, featuring 100s and 200s of each stroke in addition to 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, and 200 IM. The 200 medley relay will start the meet and the 400 free relay will be the final event.

Men’s and women’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving will run simultaneously to swimming.

Live timing will be available via the meet mobile app.

“We’re excited to host a very good Auburn team,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They have a very good and deep team. We will have our hands full and must bring our ‘A’ game tomorrow.”

The Series

The FSU men’s team defeated the Tigers at Auburn in January of 2021 for the first time in program history, which led to an undefeated regular season.

Auburn last visited Tallahassee on Feb. 2, 2007, picking up a pair of wins over the Noles.

The women own three wins over Auburn in school history and will be looking for its first victory over the Tigers since 1983.

The Last Time Out

The Noles return home after a winning both team titles at the TYR Classic hosted by FIU.

The women finished the two-day meet with a winning total of 437 points, and the men scored 517.5.

FSU set 14 meet records, including individual efforts by Peter Varjasi, Jesco Helling, Mason Herbet, Nina Kucheran, Izaak Bastian, Rebecca Moynihan, and Hannah Womer.

Divers Jesco Helling and Samantha Vear were named ACC Divers of the Week for their performances at the TYR Classic.

Helling set a meet record for the 3-meter with a winning score of 343.55. This is Helling’s first ACC Diver of the Week honor. Vear finished second on the 1-meter with a score of 295.50 which was under the previous meet record. Vear’s efforts earned her a second-career ACC Diver of the Week honor.

CSCAA Rankings

The College Swim Coaches Association of America released its preseason poll on Thursday.

The FSU men’s team were voted 15th in its 19th-straight top 25 ranking.  The women were first in receiving votes.
