Futures Champion Eleanor Beers Commits To Vanderbilt For Fall of 2020

Eleanor Beers, a senior at North Kitsap Senior High School and a member of the Bainbridge Island Swim club in Bainbridge Island, Washington, has announced her verbal intention to swim for Vanderbilt University in the fall of 2020. Primarily a sprint freestyler and butterflier, Beers has times in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles that are currently faster than the Vanderbilt program records, and if she would have been a Commodore last season with her times, would have lowered the 400 freestyle relay record as well.

At the 2019 USA Swimming Futures Championships in Mount Hood, Beers won both the 100 LCM freestyle and 100 LCM butterfly (56.88/1:01.86 respectively). She is also the Washington 2A high school defending champion in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles from the state championship meet as a junior (23.17/50.75).

• 50 free – 23.03
• 100 free – 50.04
• 100 fly – 54.75
• 200 fly – 2:02.02

Last year at the 2019 SEC Championship meet it took a 22.66/53.75/49.63 to qualify for scoring finals in the 50 yard freestyle/100 butterfly/100 freestyle respectively. She should have a spot on 4 Vanderbilt relays waiting for her when she arrives, however: the team’s top sprint freestyler last year was freshman Tonner Debeer (23.19/51.07), and Beers’ bests are already faster than that. Beers will join backstroker Gabriela Pierobon Mays as the only other announced member of the class of 2024.
