Futures Finalist Riley Botting Commits to Yale for 2023

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Riley Botting from Fort Lauderdale, Florida has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Yale beginning in the 2023-2024 school year.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to enter the admissions process and further my academic and athletic career at Yale University.  I fell in love with Yale the moment I walk onto the campus. I can’t wait to be part of such an amazing team, with outstanding coaches. I am so thankful for my coaches, teammates, teachers, friends and especially my family for their support through this long journey.  Go Bulldogs!  #boolaboola”

Botting swims for Pine Crest Swimming out of Fort Lauderdale. She most recently competed at the Florida Gold Coast Swimming Championships. There she won the 500 free in a 4:54.39. She also was second in the 400 IM (4:20.02), fourth in the 100 breast (1:04.03), and fourth in the 200 breast (2:18.63). Both her 100 breast and her 400 IM were personal best times.

Last summer, Botting made multiple finals at Futures in Cary. She finished 19th in the 200 IM (2:22.74), 24th in the 200 breast (2:42.63), 26th in the 400 IM (5:00.19), and 27th in the 100 breast (1:14.35).

Botting is finishing up her senior year at Pine Crest School. Last November, she competed at the Florida 1A State Championships and finished third in the 500 free (4:56.90) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:02.26, personal best).

Her best SCY times are:

  • 200 free: 1:51.11
  • 500 free: 4:52.97
  • 100 breast: 1:04.03
  • 200 breast: 2:17.22
  • 200 IM: 2:02.26
  • 400 IM: 4:20.02

Botting will travel from Florida up to Connecticut. The Yale women finished third at the 2023 Ivy League Championships.

Botting’s best times have the potential to make an immediate impact in numerous events. Her best times in the 200 breast, 400 IM, 200 IM, and 500 free would have made the B final. In addition, her best times in the 200 free and 100 breast would have made the C final.

She joins the class of 2027 along with Charlize Escasa (breast/sprint free), Sara Plunkett (sprint free/back), and Nina Allen (sprint free).
