Futures Qualifier Olivia Leblanc Commits to Colorado State University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Olivia Leblanc of Spring, TX has announced her decision to swim for Colorado State University’s women’s team beginning in the 2020-2021 season. Her high school team highlighted her commitment on their Instagram page:

Leblanc is finishing her final year at the Homeschool Christian Youth Academy. This year, she competed at the Texas Interscholastic Coaches Association – Gulf Invite , swimming the 500 free and 200 IM. She went a 5:09.95 in prelims, placing her 14th with a chance at a second swim. In her finals race, Leblanc dropped 5.5 seconds from her prelims time (5:04.41) and jumped up 4 spots, finishing 10th overall. She also swam the 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:08.93 in prelims, and 2:10.68 in finals. Leblanc swam the second leg of the 400-free relay that earned 6th place, alongside Kate Bryant, Ellie McLeod, and Isabella Alas. The six women of Homeschool Christian Youth Academy earned a total of 109 points to place 7th at the end of the meet.

While HCYA isn’t a 6A school, the team doesn’t participate in a true high school state championship meet, so that 6A Invite event is a good opportunity for them to race some of the state’s best swimmers.

Leblanc swims year-round for Swim Streamline at Northampton. She most recently competed at the Speedo Champions Series at College Station in February. The meet format had swimmers race short course yards in prelims and long course meters in finals. Leblanc made it back to finals in the 50 and 100 breast, and the 200 and 400 IM. She also swam personal best times in the 50 and 100 breast, as well as the 200 IM in prelims. Her 200 IM time of 2:08.23 and her 100 breast time of 1:05.98 qualified her for the 2020 Futures meet.

Top SCY Times:

  • 400 IM – 4:26.27
  • 500 free – 4:59.02
  • 200 breast – 2:23.06
  • 100 breast – 1:05.98
  • 200 IM – 2:08.23
  • 200 free – 1:53.37

Leblanc’s best times would have placed her in the C-final of the 500 free and the B-final of the 400 IM at the 2020 Mountain West Conference Championships. She will be Colorado State’s second-fastest 200 breaststroker behind Kate Meunier, and their 4th fastest 400 IMer and 500 freestyler. Leblanc will be joining Anika Johnson of Minnesota, breaststroker Emma Breslin, freestyler Kendra Preski, Megan Hager of Oregon, and Rachel Saxon of Georgia as a member of the class of 2024.
