Futures Qualifier Taylor Cloutman Commits To Kansas (2024)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Taylor Cloutman has announced her verbal commitment to continue her education and swimming career at the University of Kansas, beginning in the fall of 2024. Cloutman is currently a junior at Lafayette High School, located in Wildwood, Missouri.

“I chose KU because the team and campus felt like home. The coaching staff is invested and so supportive – I am excited to swim for the JayHawk program!”

Cloutman, a member of Rockwood Swim Club, focuses on sprint to mid-distance freestyle events. She owns a Futures qualifying time in the 200m freestyle, and is an NCSA qualifier in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

She most recently raced at the NCSA Spring Championships in March, where she earned her highest finish at 83rd in the 200 freestyle (1:53.81). She also swam the 100 free (53.02) and 100 fly (59.20), with her 100 fly being a personal best time by just under a second.

Prior to NCSA’s, Cloutman raced at the Missouri Girls Class 2 State Championship, where she advanced to finals in both of her individual events. She ended up finishing 6th in the 200 freestyle (1:54.53) and 4th in the 500 free in a best time of 5:07.97.

Kansas had three women break the 1:50-barrier this season in the 200 freestyle. Leading the way was  junior Claudia Dougan who swam a 1:48.49 at Big 12s to take 9th overall. Junior Ellie Wehrmann and sophomore Eleni Kotzamanis were just behind, owning season best times of 1:49.33 and 1:49.69, respectively.

Joining Cloutman in the JayHawks’ class of 2028 is Gabi Dyer and Alayna Henage. Henage is a breaststroke specialist and is also from Missouri. Dyer, a Colorado native, focuses on mid-distance freestyle and owns best times of 1:51.26 and 4:55.04 in the 200/500 free.
