Gabriel Jett Elects to Stay in State, Delivers Verbal To Cal For 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Gabriel Jett, a high school junior and member of Clovis Swim Club in California, has made his verbal commitment to swim for the 2019 National Champion Cal Bears in the fall of 2021. Jett comes from quite the swimming family; both of his parents (Scott and Kristie, maiden name Krueger) were multiple-time All-Americans for David Marsh at Auburn back in the 90s and his sister, Sierra, is currently in her senior season as Auburn. He will also enroll in and compete for Clovis North High School this season after previously being homeschooled.

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to the University of California! I’m extremely honored to be joining this amazing program and to swim and study as a Cal Bear. The brotherhood of the team and coaches was truly inspiring and I look forward to contributing in every way possible to the team and school. 🐻!!GO BEARS!!🐻

At the Speedo Champions Series meet in Carlsbad, Jett took 2nd place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:25.02) and 10th place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.80). Jett swam the 100/200/400 LCM frees and the 100/200 LCM backstrokes at Speedo Junior Nationals over the summer, with a 28th place finish in the 400 LCM freestyle (4:01.30) as his highest placing.

Top Times in Yards:

  • 100 free – 45.91
  • 200 free – 1:38.13
  • 500 free – 4:24.33
  • 100 fly – 50.59
  • 200 fly – 1:49.79
  • 100 back – 50.02
  • 200 back – 1:48.75

Jett used to be a water polo player, but since switching to swimming full time he has been on quite the improvement curve, including setting six new career PRs at the Kevin Perry Meet last month. He will be joining #13 Trent Frandson, Jacob Soderlund, Kai Crews, and #5 Jack Alexy as members of the Cal class of 2025.

Way to go Gabriel! Another excellent recruit out of central CA. His Dad was a regional prodigy swimming for RCA back in the day, glad to see another generation (along with his sister) carry on the tradition of fast swimming
