Gardner-Webb Women’s Swimming Splashes Through the Competition On Senior Day

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – On Friday afternoon Gardner-Webb Women’s swimming splashed through the University of North Florida for the win on Women’s senior day, taking a 102-98 victory.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the squad of Charity BennettJennifer JacksonLaura Wakeley, and Delaney Willette placed third with a time of 1:53.95.

Ashley Cesario finished third in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:46.36.

Alyssa Church took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a 1:57.36. Blake Broullire finished in fifth place with a time of 1:59.72,

For the 50 Yard Freestyle, Audrey Robinson placed first with a time of 24.70, Charity Bennett came in third with a time of 25.50, and Eliza Gunson finished with a time of 25.70, respectively.

In the 200 Yard Individual Medley, Spencer Lucas crushed her competition by a stunning five seconds going a 2:09.29. Delaney Willette finished third with a time of 2:14.57, and Laura Wakeley came in fifth place with a time of 2:17.83.

Swimming in the 100 Yard Butterfly, Jessi Snover took first place with a time of 56.11. While Mary Traylor took third place with a 59.89, and Eliza Gunson finished sixth with a time of 1:06.30.

As for the 100 Yard Freestyle, Blake Brouillire swam a 54.56 to take second place. Her teammates, Jennifer Jackson placed fifth with a 55.95 and Ashley Cesario came in sixth with a time of 59.32.

Diving into the 100 Yard Backstroke, Kayla Smith took first place swimming a 58.70. Delaney Willette finished fifth with a time of 1:00.72, and Charity Bennett placed sixth with a time of 1:01.17.

For the 500 Yard Freestyle, Spencer Lucas beat out her competition by a little under a second to take first with a time of 5:14.03. Teammate Alyssa Church took third with a time of 5:21.89.

In the last individual event of the day Jessi Snover took first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.09. Mary Traylor followed in fourth place with a 1:11.75, and Jennifer Jackson taking fifth with a time of 1:11.84.

Splashing into the last relay of the day, the squad of Blake BroullireAudrey RobinsonKayla Smith, and Alyssa Church claimed first place by five tenths of a second, finishing with a time of 3:34.19.

Men’s and Women’s Gardner-Webb Swimming will be back in action next Friday, January 31st, as they take on Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. at 5:30 pm

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – North Florida swimming was edged out in the final relay as Gardner-Webb picked up the 102-98 win Friday at Post Pool.

The meet was neck and neck heading into the 400 free relay to close out the day, but the Bulldogs finished just ahead of the Ospreys to take the win.

Of Note
– North Florida opened the meet with the second fastest time this season in the 200 Medley Relay to grab first-place points.
– In the 1000 free, senior Ally Schillinger picked up a second-place finish and her third fastest time of the year.
– Mary-Kate Wichaloins took second in the 200 free with her fifth-fastest time as a rookie.
– With a time of 58.54, Esther Quackenbush put up her third best time.
– Sydney Sheppard swam her season-best in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.48.
