Two-time Olympic gold medalist, two-time world record-holder, and member of the legendary Beijing Olympics 400-meter free relay, Garrett Weber-Gale, has been brought on as the interim coach for the Nitro Swimming National Team. In the days following Tim O’Brien’s removal, the Cedar Park, TX club team filled the vacancy with Elliott McGill, a former Division I coach who’s been with the program since April 2014. Together, McGill and Weber-Gale will guide Nitro’s national-caliber swimmers through the summer as they prepare for Olympic Trials and US Nationals.
“My goal is to be a steady, positive force in these young athletes lives, and share with them some of the guidance that I’ve learned from my coaches; Eddie & Randy Reese, Kris Kubik, and Dwight Davis, and my expertise as a successful Olympic athlete. I am excited to work with the athletes and help them find ways to improve as swimmers and as individuals.”

Weber-Gale will also maintain his role as the founder of AthleticFoodie, a sports nutrition company serving athletes with healthy snack alternatives and advice to help them reach maximum performance.
