George Mason University Announces 2016-17 Season Schedule

The George Mason men’s and women’s swimming and diving schedule has been finalized for the 2016-17 season.

The Patriots will once again open the season at American University with the Potomac Relays on Sept. 30.  Both the men’s and the women’s teams finished first in the event last season.  Mason will have its first home dual meet of the season on Oct. 15, facing Delaware at the Jim McKay Natatorium.

For the third straight season, the Patriots will travel to Richmond, Va. to face a combination of Atlantic 10 opponents in the Richmond Duals on Oct. 21-22.  Mason will take to the pool against Richmond, Davidson and Duquesne at the Greater Richmond Aquatic Partnership.

Following the competition in Richmond, Mason returns home to face Towson and Northeastern on Nov. 4-5 and will again host the annual Patriot Invitational on Nov. 17-19.

Qualified swimmers will travel to the Winter National Championships held Dec. 1-3 in Atlanta.  Mason swimmers will then head to the Sunshine State to participate in the Orange Bowl Classic held Jan. 3 in Key Largo, Fla.

The month of January concludes with two straight home dual meets against A-10 rivals.  The Patriots host George Washington on Jan. 14 and La Salle on Jan. 16 in the final tune-up before the A-10 Championships.

Held in Geneva, Ohio, the Atlantic 10 Championships will take place Feb. 15-18 at the SPIRE Institute. Last season, both the men’s and women’s team placed sixth overall in the A-10 Championships.

The Zone A Diving Qualifier will take place Mar. 6-8 in Blacksburg, Va. The women’s NCAA Swimming Championships will be held Mar. 15-18 and the men’s NCAA Swimming Championships will take place Mar. 22-25.  Both swimming championships will be held in Indianapolis
