Georgia 6A State Champ Emma Cole Gives Verbal to UNC for 2017-18

Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club’s Emma Cole has made a verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina for the 2017-18 season. A 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier in both the 100 and 200 freestyles, Cole will bring individual and relay strength to the UNC bench when she begins next year.

“I chose UNC because of the outstanding academics and opportunities they offer. I also loved the people and the team atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. I am very excited to be a Tar Heel!!”

Cole is a senior at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. She was runner-up in both the 100 and 200 freestyle individual events at the 2016 GHSA 6A State Swimming & Diving Meet, and anchored Walton’s winning 200 free relay (22.90) and 400 free relay (49.33).

Swimming with Chattahoochee Gold, Cole had a strong meet at the 2016 NCSA Spring Championships. She placed 6th in the 200 fly, won the consolation final of the 100 free, was 12th in the 400 free, 29th in the 50 fly, 32nd in the 200 free, and 40th in the 50 free.

Cole’s top times are:

  SCY LCM
50 free 23.13 26.47
100 free 49.86 56.23
200 free 1:47.03 2:02.09
