Two world records fell on day two of the 2019 U.S. Paralympics National Championships.
Twenty-five-year-old Becca Meyers set her second of the weekend, which came in a timed final Saturday morning in the multi-class 200 fly — she was one of two swimmers to compete. Meyers went 2:19.86, splitting 32.86/38.35/38.72/29 en route to a 2:28.24, breaking the S12 world record.
Connor Gioffreda‘s world record came in the men’s S6 1500 free — he was also one of two swimmers entered in the multi-class race. Gioffreda took his first 100 out in 1:23.81, then was 7:32.28 at the 500, 15:26.85 at the 1000, and finished in 22:53.84.
Four athletes won two national titles each on day two.
Ellia Marks won both the women’s S7 100 back (1:22.07) and SB6 100 breast (1:41.98), and McLain Hermes won the women’s S11 100 back (1:31.55) and SB11 100 breast (1:41.87). Jamal Hill won the men’s S10 100 back (1:11.13) and 50 free (26.59) and Liam Smith won the men’s SB7 100 breast (1:26.73) and S7 50 free (32.99) — Smith has now won four titles in two days,
