In our GMX7 Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming series, we celebrate swimmers of every age and experience level with age group profiles of some recent results.

Morgan Wendler, 12, Terrapins Swim Team (TERA-PC): Wendler lowered six of his personal best times at the Far Western Championships a few weeks ago, climbing the boys’ 11-12 all-time rankings in four of them. Wendler put up a time of 53.99 in the 100 fly to rank 24th all-time in the 11-12 age group, and he also went 2:01.13 in the 200 IM to rank 31st, 2:16.63 in the 200 breast to rank 66th, and 2:03.09 in the 200 fly to sit 71st. Wendler also ranks second in the U.S. this season for 11-12 boys in the 200 breast and 200 IM and third in the 100 and 200 fly.

Shannon Conway, 14, North Baltimore Aquatic Club (NBAC-MD): Conway set seven lifetime bests and won the same number of events at the ISCA East Coast Elite Showcase last weekend, leading the North Baltimore Aquatic Club to the top spot in the team standings. Among Conway’s top swims were the 1650 free (16:44.03) and 400 IM (4:21.41), where she ranks fifth and 11th this season, respectively, in the girls’ 13-14 age group.

Adam Giersch, 12, Tide Swim Team (TIDE-VA): Also racing at the ISCA Elite Showcase, Giersch won all eight of the events he contested in the boys’ 12-year-old age category, setting personal bests in six of them. Giersch notably moved up to sixth this season in the 11-12 age group in the 50 free, breaking 23 seconds for the first time in 22.97, and he also broke another monumental barrier in the 100 free, leading off Tide Swimming’s 400 free relay in 49.97 to rank second among 11-12s this season.

Claire Roussakis, 13, Upper Main Line YMCA (UMLY-MA): Roussakis set lifetime bests in every event she swam at the YMCA National Short Course Championships, and added another in a time trial. Roussakis moved up to 15th this season among 13-year-old girls in the 50 free (23.76), and she also earned a top-20 spot in the 100 free (51.76) and 100 fly (56.99).
