Gold Medalist Sarah Sjostrom Shows Us How To Get In The Pool

Reigning multi-world record holder Sarah Sjostrom does everything right when she’s in the water, but, like everyone else, she still has to actually get in the pool before starting her destruction.

Below, the 24-year-old Olympic champion shows us a variety of different methods of taking that first dive, jump or step into the water for practice. Sjostrom identifies the 2nd option as her most preferred way to get in the pool, one that involves a little bit of procrastination, but she also demonstrates the running dive, the cannonball and the full equipment kick-off, among several others.

Sjostrom was recently named to Sweden’s roster for the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, slated to compete in her signature 50m fly, 100m fly, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle events.

I know this is all in fun but you should’ve mentioned the proper way to enter a pool at the end. This year Southern California Swimming (and i think others across the country) implemented a 3 point entry at meets and encourage clubs to enforce this at practices.

As you said, Doggy, this was all in fun. I don’t think a disclaimer is required here anymore than a ‘remain seated in the airplane’ statement for the silly 2012 US Olympian’s Call Me Maybe video (that still makes me smile every time I watch it!)
