Grabich and Berrino Break Argentine Records in Mar de Plata

Federico Grabich and Andrea Berrino both took down their own Argentine records at the Argentinian Championships in Mar de Plata.

The championships act as the country’s trials for the Pan American Games in Toronto and World Championships in Kazan

Grabich had an extremely impressive swim in the men’s 200 freestyle dropping more than a second off his best time and national record. He took the event in a time of 1:47.78 which betters his previous record of 1:49.13.

Grabich’s time puts him ninth in the world.

Berrion took the women’s 100 backstroke in a time of 1:01.04. She also dropped more than a second off her own record of 1:02.12.

Winners in the meet so far include:

  • 50 female butterfly – Maria Belen Diaz 27.87
  • 50 male butterfly – Santiago Grassi 24.12
  • 100 female breast – Malena Coschiza 1: 12.74
  • 100 male breast – Facundo Miguelena 1: 02.91
  • 100 female back – Andrea Berrino 1: 01:04
  • 100 Male back – Benjamin Hockin Paraguay 56.89
  • 200 free female – Florence Panzini 2: 06.77
  • 200 free male – Federico Grabich 1: 47.78
  • 400 female medley – Andrea Etchegaray 5: 32.61
  • 400 male medley – Esteban Paz 4: 28.02
  • 1500 female free – Romina Inwinkeldried 17: 55.02
  • 1500 free male – Martin Naidich 15: 50.51
