GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina swimmers Nic Graesser and Caroline Baldwin and diver Elissa Dawson, along with NC State diver Rachel Mumma, were named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week.
Graesser earned Male Swimmer of the Week honors after posting one individual and two relay first-place finishes against top-ranked Texas. The senior touched first in the 100 back, finishing in an NCAA B-cut time of 47.87 before leading both the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to top finishes, swimming the backstroke leg of the 200 medley in 22.54 and the second leg of the 400 free in 44.30. Graesser also placed third in the 200 back event.
Baldwin was named Female Swimmer of the Week after helping the Tar Heels defeat the sixth-ranked Longhorns. The sophomore led both the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to victory, swimming the freestyle anchor leg of the 200 medley in 22.07 and the second leg of the 400 free in 49.50. Baldwin then won the 50 free with a season-best time of 22.63 before finishing fourth in the 100 free with a season best time of 49.92.
Dawson earned her second consecutive Performer of the Week honor and third this season after being named Co-Female Diver of the Week. The sophomore swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events with NCAA zone qualifying scores. She finished with a score of 306.83 on the 1-meter, while her conference-leading score of 381.00 in the 3-meter gave her a 47 point win.
Mumma also earned Co-Female Diver of the Week honors for the second time this season after sweeping the 1- and 3-meter events against Texas. The senior posted NCAA zone qualifying scores on both boards, finishing with a season-best and conference-leading score of 325.95 on the 1-meter board and a 332.40 on the 3-meter.
