Australian legend Grant Hackett continued his comeback this weekend at 34-years old when he raced at the Gold Coast Championships in his home Miami Swimming Club pool.
Hackett raced the 100, 200, and 400 long course meter freestyles, just like he did last week, and improved his times in two of the three races.
The 200 free, where a relay spot is in sight for the 2016 Olympics, was Hackett’s best swim. Hackett swam a 1:49.79 to win, improving upon the 1:50.68 that he did just a week ago.
Editor’s note: official results had no splits for Hackett’s 200 free this weekend.
Hackett also swam a 3:54.67 in the 400 free, which improved upon his 3:55.68, and his lone step back, a 51.73 in the 100 free.
This comeback is legitimate! At the rate he’s going and with more of a middle distance focus I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go a PB at Olympic trials next year.
Very impressive again for a come back – Surely Thorpe didn’t make it that deep in his come back . Anyway , happy to foloow his improvements . Way to go Grant
Another smashing swim. Already better than Thorpes comeback effort, which at 34 is some going.
